Weddings these days come in all sizes, styles and colors. That is a good thing. Marissa and Ben went "country" for their wedding choosing a smaller intimate farm wedding venue Bluebird Farm in Willington located in the quite corner of Connecticut. Bluebird Farm is such a down to earth venue with its rustic farm settings, barn and even a barn loft and treehouse for accommodations. Animals galore from sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, ducks and dogs roam the farm making for great fun for the little ones and the adult kids at heart. Carmen and Joe are the most warm and welcoming hosts. You can't help but feel the love on Bluebird Farm. The guys wore cowboy boots, vests and jeans and the girls went barefoot!! Now that is country. Sunflowers were the theme of their late September wedding on the farm.
In place of "getting ready photos" we started the wedding day with portraits of Ben and his groomsmen in the treehouse and around the farm.
Instead of the customary matching pajama or robe photos the girls chose to display their favorite "band" shirts for their getting ready photos followed by Marissa getting into her dress and bride portraits in the barn loft.
With Marissa all dressed and she left the barn to do a "first look" with her dad which was very emotional and special. We all were in tears.
It took a while for us all to regain our composure after that but we were able to shift gears and bring out the smiles, laughs and sunflowers of course. Thanks girls for being so fun and awesome. We are talking down to earth on the farm vibe here and I was just loving it.
The wedding bells were ringing so time to move to the ceremony area for their beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony on the farm. The bees were buzzing, flowers blooming, and love was in the air.
Family photos were taken next as well as Marissa with the groomsmen, Ben with the bridesmaids and the whole wedding party together and photo time with Marissa and Ben.
Their reception took place in the small barn with introductions, and a first dance on the deck with Marissa and Ben and a father daughter dance with Marissa and her dad followed by toasts.
Cake cutting on the back deck came next with an awesome cake by Story Book Cakes, photo booth fun, a fire pit and lots of fun on the dance floor. What a down home, sunflower fun, rustic, farm wedding Marissa and Ben.
