 JOANNE AND PIERRE'S WEDDING

 19 Main

New Milford, Connecticut

We start the wedding day of Joanne and Pierre at 19 Main in New Milford, Connecticut.  19 Main is an old bank that has been turned into a venue.  It is right in the heart of downtown, New Milford.  Many of the features of the old bank remain including the old vaults.  Anytime of the year it is a great, fun vibe venue. Joanne getting ready down in the lower part of the venue in the bridal suite.

While the girls are getting into their dresses, I move to the groom room to take photos of Pierre and his groomsmen.  Inquiring couples sometimes ask how I photograph brides getting ready and grooms getting ready as a solo photographer.  The answer is quite simple and I do it all the time and have for 10 years now.  If the groom and bride are getting ready in two different locations I go to the guys first as the hair and make up process can take an easy 4 hours or more for them.  While the girls are in the early stages of their make up etc., I go photograph the guys.  That takes only 45minutes to 1 hour.  When that is done, I go to the girls.  In the case of this wedding, the guys and girls were getting ready in the same location.  So I started with the hair and make up photos of the bride.  When that is done it can take an easy 20 to 30 minutes for the girls to get into their dresses.  So during that time, I photograph the guys and it gives the girls a little break, take a bite to eat etc.  When I am finished with the guys, the bridesmaids are dressed and I can now focus on taking photos of the bride getting into her dress etc.  It is really not that complicated and because I shoot both the guys and girls I know the standard and quality of images, amount etc. that my couples will receive rather then having a second photographer with less experience tasked with doing that.  Because you are not having to pay for a second photographer I can keep your costs down as you are only paying 1 person instead of two and thus you can have me at more parts of your wedding which actually translates to more time at your wedding, and more photos taken and more important moments captured then if you would have had a second photographer.

With the guys complete, I go back to the girls and take photos of Joanne getting into her dress and with her bridesmaids and mom etc.

After Joanne is all dress we do a first look with her dad outside the venue on Main Street followed by some family photos.

Next we go the church  in Danbury for a Catholic Wedding Ceremony. Connecticut has so many beautiful old churches.  This one was beautiful.

Following the bubble exit at the church our next stop on the wedding day is Lovers Leap State Park in New Milford.  It is a very popular portrait location with the iconic bride over the Housatonic River.

We go back to the venue at 19 Main for the reception. Introductions, a first dance, father daughter dance, mother son dance and toasts come next.

After dinner, I did what is called "reverse table shots" to get a photo of every table of guests with the bride and groom before we opened up the dance floor.   This is a great way to get a photo of every table of guests in a short period of time without going around to every table and having the reorganize the seating at the table for photos.  Saving time at the reception is a good thing so you can, dance, be with your family and friends and have more time to enjoy your special day.
