We start the wedding day with getting ready photos of Chris and his groomsmen followed by portraits of them outside. Often I hear prospective couples say they need a second photographer because they are having getting ready photos of both guys and girls.  This is not true but unfortunately has been thrown around the photography circles for quite some time.  As a single photographer I photograph both guys getting ready shots and girls getting ready at almost every wedding and have been doing so for years.  In this wedding I also did portraits of the groom and groomsmen in addition to the girls getting ready photos.  While the girls are having their hair and make up done, I photograph the guys.  And when I am finished with the guys, then I go to take photos of the girls.  The advantage to doing it this way is my clients have me ( a lead photographer) shooting both in a similar style so their is quality and consisitancy in their photos not always provided when using a second photographer.  Also not having to hire another photograpaher helps keep costs down and actually providing better work at the same time.  

Chris and the guys did a great job for being camera shy.  We had a fun time with the guys and not it is time for me to take photos of Andrea and the girls for their getting ready photos.  We started with robe photos, followed by detail shots, Andrea getting into her dress and finishing with beautiful window light portraits of Andrea and a first look with her dad which was very touching.

 

After the getting ready photos of Andrea and first look with her dad, we went otuside for photos of Andrea and her bridesmaids and parents.  At this point in the wedding we basically had all the portraits finished individually for both the bride and groom and bridesmaids and groomsmen. This allows the bride and groom to enjoy the cocktail hour more and provides for more creative portrats by doing them before the ceremony rather then trying to squeeze all of them into the cocktail hour.  A lot of my clients prefer this type of wedding day timline which I help put together for them.    

With all getting ready photos and portraits complete it is time for the outdoor ceremony. 

We took some time after the cermony to get photos of all the bridal party together and some portraits with Chris and Andrea together.  The Simsbury Inn has some beautiful places for photos. 

With the getting ready, ceremony and portraits completed it is time for their reception to begin. We begin the reception with introductions of the bridal party, first dance and toasts.

Next comes a father daugther dance, anniversary dance, cake cutting and dancing.  A photobooth was present making for some great photos and some other highlights were cigar smoking and socializing on the back patio which made for some fun candid photos. 

It was an amazing wedding day from begining to end as it should be.  Way to go Chris and Andrea and your awesome bridal party and family and friends for making the day be so awesome.
