ERIN AND MIKE'S WEDDING

Heritage Hotel, Southbury, Connecticut

Like many of the couples this year my relationship with  Erin and Mike started a few years ago when I met Erin and Mike at a bridal show in the winter of 2019.  I photographed their engagement session in the summer of 2019. Then with Covid happening they had to postpone their wedding for a year.  So it was with great praise and rejoicing that the wedding day they had planned and waited for so long had finally arrived.

Their wedding was a full day extravaganza at the Heritage Hotel.  Their wedding day included getting ready photos and portraits of Mike and his groomsmen followed by getting ready photos of Erin and her bridesmaids.  After that was a first look with Mike and Erin and portraits of the bridal party and family.  Most of the photos were done before the ceremony which freed them up to enjoy their cocktail hour.  This is nice arrangement for couples that want more photos and a more relaxed and leisurely wedding day.  Having the whole wedding at the Heritage Hotel allowed them to enjoy the day from morning to night even going further into the night with an after party!!

So lets start of the wedding day with photos of Mike and his groomsmen getting ready in the hotel room and them some photos outside.

The guys did a great job with their getting ready photos and portraits.  They were a hard act to follow but Erin and her bridesmaids were up for the task.   Erin's getting ready photos included jammie photos on the bed with her bridesmaids, detail photos,  Erin getting ready as well as a first look with her dad with mom watching and a first look with her bridesmaids followed by portraits of her bridesmaids.  Great job Erin and the girls and mom and dad.

With the Erin and her girls all ready it was time for their first look and portraits.  We started the first look in the wonderful vineyards at the heritage hotel.  This was followed by portraits of the bridesmaids on the golf course and family photos back at the vineyard.

The celebration continued with a beautiful ceremony in the rock garden courtyard.  Erin and Mike wrote their own vows which made the ceremony more personal and gave more time for me to capture the reactions, guests etc.  Besides the standard ceremony photos they had a special request for a group photo in the courtyard.  Erin emailed me a sample photos prior to her wedding as an example.  I was happy to take her photo request and capture her whole wedding guests included for the photos.  Special thanks to their officiant, Wed by Fred for doing a great job with their ceremony.  Here is a link to his website.      https://www.bewedbyfred.com/

After their ceremony we did a few extended large group portraits in the vineyard area and then it was time for their reception in the timber room.  Their reception included intros with the bridal party doing the limbo plus a first dance, toasts and parent dances.  Their friends were the most fun on a dance floor I had in a long time.   They got very creative even using the groomsmen's ties for doing the limbo and "jumping ties" instead of rope.   It was a long time waiting for their wedding and everybody celebrated and laughed and had fun.  It was a blast!!!  Thank you everybody for such a great reception, celebration and tribute of love.  Great job Vivid Events for the music, lighting and entertainment https://www.yourvividevent.com/
Sometimes couples ask should I hire a videographer for my wedding?  Video can be a wonderful compliment to photography.  They both capture different elements of the wedding in their unique ways.  Time Costello is an awesome videographer and I always love working with him.  We work together as a great solid team and I can't recommend him enough.

Here is a video he made for Erin and Mike to give you a good side by side comparison of photography and videography and how they can compliment each other so beautifully.
