Wickham Park, Manchester, Connecticut
Ashley and Mike made this wedding their own!! They had a very clear vision for a more laid back, earthy inspired feel to their wedding. Hence the choosing of their venue The Emerald Room at the Irish Gardens in Wickham Park. This was a very special place to them. I did their engagement session here a year prior so I had the time to familiarize myself with the great photo opportunities in the various gardens. Through our various planning meetings, I learned of their vision for their wedding day and helped them secure the best vendors that would reflect their wedding day vision.
Their wedding day was based off a 6 hour timeline starting with a first look and portraits of the bride and groom followed by portraits of the wedding party. A large amount of the portraits were done before the ceremony. That way they could enjoy the cocktail hour after a short time of doing family portraits. We were blessed with a beautiful October 1st day for their wedding with the most beautiful wedding to enjoy the relaxed, laid back feel of their wedding day.
With the first look and portraits of the bride and groom finished it was time for the wedding party portraits. Ashley's bridesmaids were dressed in their nature colors of green and their beautiful flower hoops making for a natural feel. Mike's groomsmen likewise were in the nature theme with suspenders and earthy tones.
With the portraits all finished everyone headed back to the ceremony area for a wonderful outdoor ceremony in the Irish gardens. Their friend officiated their ceremony making for a real close and laid back feeling.
After their wedding ceremony, Ashley Mike did a circle through the Chinese Gardens for some portraits on the bridge which was the same place I did their engagement session a year prior. After that, they entered through the moon gate where they were greeted by their guests family and wedding party.
It was time for some family photos in gardens followed by a wonderful outdoor cocktail hour with food prepared by David Alan Hospitality Group. They are a fantastic caterer and do an amazing job at every event. I highly recommend them.
Next came party time in the Emerald Room for their wedding reception!! Their reception started off with an introduction of the bride and groom and first dance. Followed by toasts, a wonderful dinner buffet, dancing, cake cutting and even some night photos. It was a fun packed evening of food, dancing and music. Special thanks to Scott Olson of Sho Pro DJ Services for the music and entertainment.
Ashley and Mike made this wedding their own!! Their wedding reflected so much their personalities and style. They went a very different route in their planning of their wedding day and it all came together so beautifully. "Perfect" is a word that we kept using to describe their day. I encourage couples to make their weddings their own rather than fitting into a box or cooking cutter approach. Part of the numerous wedding planning sessions I offer with my clients helps me to understand their vision and help them bring it to fruition by guiding them and creating their timeline, helping them secure the best vendors and making it all come together in a "Perfect" way.
