With the end of August upon us engagement season starts to really kick in. As the end of summer approaches and fall begins, couples take advantage of the remaining greens of summer, warm temperatures and longer days and fall foliage before winter set in to have their engagement session. On this schedule, they can use the photos from their engagement session for their save the date cards and have them in the mail to their guests in time for their wedding next spring and summer.
We had an interesting morning at Castle Craig with low hanging clouds and mist. The rock, stones and green hills made for a Celtic style engagement shoot, so fitting for Sarah and Daniel's personality and style. To best capture the texture and color especially of the clouds and bright sky at the top of the mountain, I had to use off camera lighting with strobes to render the scene naturally as the eye would see it without overexposing and blowing out the highlights in the sky and clouds.
Sarah and Daniel were a bit nervous at first about having their photos taken with a professional photographer but after talking with them and taking a few shots they quickly relaxed and became comfortable. Engagement shoots take place at a much slower and relaxed pace then weddings and gives us the opportunity to enjoy the many scenic vistas, and locations. We had a great time and had some awesome shots at the top and then stopped at the bottom of the road to get some shots with the lake and rocks in the background. They enjoyed their shoot and the photos and it was a great way to get to know them more. Thanks Sarah and Daniel for a great engagement shoot. I look forward to your wedding day next June.

After completing photography school, I started my career as a nature and landscape photographer specializing in creating photographic art for hospitals and medical buildings. My work is on permanent display in many hospitals and medical building throughout Connecticut. Many years of experience and thousands of hours in the field shooting and honing my skills as a landscape photographer were carried over to my wedding photography bringing a clarity to my images with richness of tones and color that has become the hallmark of my wedding photography.
